 The Langdons of Johnston County's Camp Flintlock will demonstrate Colonial Era musket and cannon firing at this year's HAM & YAM FESTIVAL (see schedule below). That's appropriate, for the Town of Smithfield was founded in 1777, a year after the Declaration of Independence, in the midst of the Revolutionary War. If things had turned out differently, perhaps the town's charter, granted by North Carolina's "rebel" government, would have been "null and void"!   |
