SKYFEST!
Last Saturday
brought great weather and a great turnout for what
started out some years ago as an "open house" at
Johnston County's airport northwest of Smithfield.
This year's inaugural "Skyfest" drew many more
performances and exhibitions than before, and the
public was able to enjoy it all without admission
charge.
Here are photos taken for the Sun by Neal Davis, executive director of Community and Senior Services of Johnston County and a former airplane pilot himself.... Propeller-driven planes did their tricks. The "American Bombshells" sang vintage wartime popular tunes. Youngsters got to try the "freedom jump." Adults did the real thing....
