A stinkin' good time for "Grinch" runners
 "The
Grinch" is handcuffed at Saturday's Stink
Stank Stunk Run by Officer D.J. Kenny under
the supervision of Chief Keith Powell of the
Smithfield Police. "What's the charge, Officer?"
asked the green-faced mean one. "Larceny of
Christmas," Officer Kenny replied.

The "entry fee" was a new, unwrapped toy for underprivileged children served by Harbor and Social Services' Angel Tree project.
No one's time was officially recorded and no winners were announced.
Hosted by the town's Parks & Recreation and Police departments, the event was sponsored by the Smithfield Kiwanis Club, WTSB Radio, the Recreation & Aquatics Center, Smithfield Friends of the Park, and W. Landis Bullock Industrial & Contractor Supply.

Second Street Dog Park has shelters
New metal and fabric shelters are in place at the Town of Smithfield's Second Street Dog Park. They were installed as part of a $16,856 project that also includes new dug-out covers at the Smith-Collins Park baseball field. Barrs Recreation of PIttsboro is doing the work.
HOLIDAY SEASON ACTIVITIES AT THE "SRAC"
(Smithfield Recreation & Aquatics Center)
• KIDS NIGHT for ages 5-12 this Saturday (Dec. 14), 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Swimming, gym fun, cookie decorating, ornament making.
(Please bring a towel and a change of clothes.)
"Parent-free" event --- qualified staff on duty to keep children safe.
Pre-registration by Friday (Dec. 13): $8 for Smithfield residents,
$13.50 for non-Smithfield residents, $5 for each additional child.
Higher charges for admission on Saturday if not pre-registered.
• SWIM WITH SANTA this Sunday (Dec. 15), 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Cookies and milk for everyone.
SRAC members admitted free of charge; charges for non-member
Smithfield residents: $3 per adult, $2 for children 3-17; for non-member
out-of-town residents: $5.50 and $4.
